What Downtools is
Downtools (hosted at downtools.pages.dev) is a free web tool that lets you download publicly available content by pasting a link, across a range of platforms:

ℹ️Short version: Downtools doesn't require an account, doesn't store the media you download, and only collects the minimum technical data needed to keep the tool running and to serve ads.
01 — Information we collect
What we actually see
- Links you paste. The URL you submit from any supported platform is processed to fetch the media and is not permanently stored on our servers.
- Technical data. Standard web logs — IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited — collected automatically for security and analytics.
- Cookies & similar tech. Used for basic site functionality and by our advertising partners (see Section 03).
We do not ask for your name, email, or login credentials for any platform to use the downloader.

Why we collect it
- To process your download request and return the requested media to your browser, regardless of which supported platform it came from.
- To monitor uptime, detect abuse, and prevent scraping or overload of the service.
- To display advertising that keeps Downtools free to use.
03 — Advertising & third parties
Ads on Downtools
Downtools shows ads through third-party ad networks. These networks may use cookies or device identifiers to serve relevant ads and measure performance. We don't control their data practices directly — you can review each network's own policy for details, and most offer opt-out tools for personalized ads.
04 — Data retention
What we keep, and for how long
Downloaded media passes through our system momentarily to reach your device and is not archived, no matter which of the 12 supported platforms it came from. Server logs are retained for a limited period for security purposes and then discarded.

Staying in control
- Disable cookies in your browser at any time — the core download tool still works.
- Use ad-network opt-out pages to limit personalized advertising.
- Contact us to ask what technical logs, if any, are associated with your visit.
06 — Children's privacy
Age
Downtools is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.
07 — Changes to this policy
Updates
We may update this policy as the service evolves — including as we add or change supported platforms. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.
